Help Belle Take Her First Pain-Free Steps
Belle is just a puppy, but she has already endured more pain and trauma than any dog ever should.
Belle and her sibling were struck by a car and heartlessly left in the road. Tragically, her sibling did not survive. Belle did, but her fight was only beginning.
In a rural area with limited access to specialized veterinary care, Belle underwent an orthopedic procedure that was not appropriate for the severity and complexity of her injuries. Without the resources and updated orthopedic expertise her case required, the procedure left Belle in critical condition.
Belle Arrived in Critical Condition
An infection was growing in her leg. Her bones and muscles were not properly aligned, and she was experiencing unimaginable pain.
Within moments of arriving in the Chicagoland area, Belle was rushed into the emergency room. A team of orthopedic specialists began preparing her for multiple complex surgeries to undo the damage, treat the infection, properly align her muscles, and set her broken bones correctly.
Belle Is Not Out of the Woods Yet
The days following these surgeries are critical. Her veterinary team must closely monitor her infection, pain, healing, and muscle alignment.
Belle will need months of rehabilitation and physical therapy, and she may require additional procedures in the future.
Euthanasia Was Not an Option
She did not ask to be dumped along a busy road.
She did not ask to be struck by a car.
She did not ask for a surgery that left her suffering even more.
Belle did not ask for any of this.
What she does deserve is the chance to live.
Despite everything she has endured, Belle continues to wag her tail, trust the people caring for her, and fight every single day.
We will fight just as hard for her. We will not stop until Belle has every opportunity to heal, run, play, and experience the happy, pain-free life she was always meant to have.
