Training Coordinator ~

The general purpose of the role is to promote force-free positive training as one of the most critical tools for future rescue prevention, and provide training-related support to foster homes and adopters (and occasionally others in the rescue). Some of the specific activities are:

  • Supporting foster homes with training/behavior issues that arise with foster dogs. This can be providing resources and information via email, discussing on the phone, or scheduling an in-person visit with yourself or a trainer volunteer depending on need/location/availability.
  • Supporting adopters by contacting them as soon as possible after adoption with information about approved trainers in their area and offering support until they schedule their first session or class (required within 30 days).
  • Coordinating occasional seminars for foster homes to learn about training techniques and addressing behaviors.
  • Maintaining documentation related to training policies for adopters, approved trainers and specific training concepts, including MLRR’s trainer spreadsheet.
  • Supporting others within MLRR on training/behavior-related questions or matters that may pop up from time to time.

The ideal candidate is passionate about 100% positive, force free training. You do not need to be a trainer, since we have a community of MLRR approved trainers already established. Estimated commitment is 15-20 hours per month. If you are interested in this role, please fill out a volunteer application here. Please make a note of your desired position under Volunteer Interests - Other.
