Look at this boy! Have you ever seen a sweeter face or more soulful eyes? Sammy is an 8-9 year old chocolate lab mix from Mississippi. He is a gentle boy who has impeccable house manners… no accidents, chewing, or digging… and he can be left in the house while you’re gone with absolutely no issues.
He still has plenty of energy for long walks in the woods or romps in the backyard. And after the workout, he’s ready to snuggle with you on the couch or curl up on his bed for a long winter’s nap.
Turned in as a stray, Sammy spent 4 months in lockup before his long journey north. None of this has dampened his spirit in the least. He loves all the people, all the dogs, and even the resident cats in his foster home.
He has tested positive for Heartworm (don't worry-it's not contagious!) and the kind folks at MLRR will be paying for his treatment, he will need a calm, stress-free environment to help him heal. There will be a 2-3 month period where it will be extremely important that he avoids high-energy activities (no running or long walks!) to ensure that the treatment works its magic. Once fully healed, he will be ready for adventure.
