Hi everyone, I’m Cork and I am so thankful to be alive, safe, and finally loved through MLRR.
I didn’t start life knowing kindness. I was living outside with my brother Cash and several other dogs in truly awful conditions. Despite everything I went through, I somehow came out of it with the softest heart. My foster family says it’s nothing short of a miracle how gentle, affectionate, and trusting I am after the life I had.
I am, without question, the sweetest boy. I love other dogs, but also really love my people. Humans are my compass. I look to them for guidance, comfort, and reassurance! Because of that confidence and connection, my foster mom thinks I might actually be the perfect dog for any family because what love I would soak up from humans or dogs, I would return it tenfold.
I’m incredibly smart and eager to please. I was potty trained in one day, figured out leash walking almost immediately (still working on it, of course), and I’m already crate trained. I have a wonderful off switch, I can be ready for adventure in a heartbeat, but I’m just as happy curled up for a long nap on the couch. I sleep through the night, sit calmly for nail trims and ear cleanings, and my foster mom says she hasn’t heard me bark even once.
I’ve met a couple of cats and was very interested in them, so I’d probably do best in a cat-free home where I can focus all my love on my people.
I am joyful, affectionate, and deeply loyal. I follow my foster family around like a shadow, not because I’m unsure, but because I simply love being near them. I am learning what it means to be cherished, and I am embracing this new world of kindness with my whole heart.
I am only here today because one incredible woman downstate chose to save me, spending her own money and time to give me a chance and making a life changing call to MLRR. I don’t take that second chance lightly. I am ready to give someone everything I have, love, loyalty, companionship, and endless gratitude.
