Hi there, I’m Pearl, and I’m so glad you want to get to know me! I’m a beautiful silver lady who was used as a breeder dog in Iowa. But now, I’m finally getting all the love I deserve and learning how to be a part of a real family. When I first arrived, I was pretty shy and spent a lot of time lounging on the couch in my safe spot. But with patience and kindness, my playful, sassy, and loving personality is starting to shine through.
I’m an amazing retriever, though I’ve got a funny little habit—I like to bury all the toys I fetch! So, when we play fetch, be prepared for some light digging along with the retrieval.
I absolutely adore my canine foster sibling and get along great with all the other dogs I’ve met. I’m also totally cool with cats—no issues there! I’m fully potty trained and walk beautifully on a leash, though I do startle easily, so you’ll want to keep a tight grip on me—I can run pretty fast when I’m spooked!
I’m still working on getting comfortable in the car and adjusting to new places, so I’ll need a patient adopter who understands that new environments might take me a bit of time to get used to. A canine sibling would be a huge help in showing me the ropes, and I’d absolutely love a nice big fenced yard to run and play in.
I’ve tested positive for heartworm (don’t worry—it’s not contagious!). The wonderful folks at MLRR are helping me with my treatment, and while I’m going through it, I’ll need a calm and stress-free environment to heal. I’ll need to take it easy and avoid high-energy activities (so no zoomies for now!) so the treatment can work its magic. Once I’m fully healed, I’ll be ready to take on the world, but for now, it’s all about peace, love, and recovery.
