Hi there, I’m Pearl, and I’m so glad you want to get to know me! I’m a beautiful silver lady who was used as a breeder dog in Iowa.
My hard life made me a timid girl. But now that I've been in my foster home for a few months, I am slowly but steadily healing. I’m soaking up all the love I deserve and learning how to be a part of a real family. Now it is apparent what a sweet, smart, and gentle girl I am!
I'm perfectly potty trained, walk well on a leash (no pulling), and have awesome recall off leash as well... although we always practice in a fenced area! I've even learned that car rides usually mean we're going somewhere fun and I "load up" on command.
My foster sister has taught me to sit quietly and use my sweet face to ask for treats and to take them very gently. I get along great with all the other dogs I’ve met. I’m also totally cool with cats—no issues there!
I also LOVE to run run run, so I’d absolutely love an active adopter or a nice big yard to run and play in. And boy can I run! My foster mom says I look like a gazelle when I get going!
Speaking of my foster mom, she adds, “It is wonderful to see how far Pearl has come in the last several weeks. The dog she will be in a few months will be nothing short of amazing. I’ve fostered over 20 dogs, and it is apparent what a special girl Pearl is.”
I’ve tested positive for heartworm (don’t worry—it’s not contagious!). The wonderful folks at MLRR are helping me with my treatment, and while I’m going through it, I’ll need a calm and stress-free environment for a few months to heal. I’ll need to take it easy and avoid high-energy activities (so no zoomies for now!) so the treatment can work its magic. Once I’m fully healed, I’ll be ready to take on the world!
