Adoption Pending!
Hi, I’m Zeus and I'm from Texas! I am a big guy, full of pure, gentle vibes. I’m what you might call an old soul: laid-back, polite, and happiest when the pace is slow and the company is kind.
My past wasn’t the easiest. I was the only pup to survive my litter, and while I lived my seven years in a home with many other dogs, life got a whole lot better when I was surrendered to rescue. It’s like I knew help had arrived — my tail hasn’t stopped wagging since. These days, I look at people like I’m saying, “Thanks. Really.”
I grew up around lots of dogs, so I get along with pups of all kinds, and I’m gentle with kids, too. I’m not one for chaos — my foster dad calls me Ferdinand-the-Bull type: big guy, slow walker, flower sniffer, lover of sunshine and soft places to nap. Everyone who stops me on the street can’t believe how calm and chill I am, standing there so nicely.
My manners are impeccable: house trained, don’t chew things I shouldn’t, don’t beg, don’t counter surf. I’m completely trustworthy left alone outside of a crate — I’ll probably just snooze the day away while you’re gone. The only time I jump is when I hop with joy to go outside, and only bark when I hear a loud car or train go by in the city.
I’m not the kind of dog who needs constant entertainment. My favorite things are simple: standing still next to you while you rub my head, curling up on the couch with my chin on your lap, or following you gently from room to room just to be near you. My presence is quiet, but steady. There’s a comfort in it, I think — and if you’ve ever known an old soul dog, you’ll understand what I mean.
Right now, I’ve tested positive for Heartworm (don’t worry – it’s not contagious!), and MLRR is taking care of all my treatment. For the next few months, I’ll need a calm, stress-free environment while I heal. Slow walks for me — but lucky for you, that fits my vibe perfectly. Once I’m in the clear, I’ll be ready to stroll a little farther, nap a little deeper, and love a whole lot more.
If you’re looking for a quiet companion who will always be close by — never in the way, but always there — I might just be your guy. Let’s take it slow… together.
