Rebel

Hi, I’m Rebel — a 5-year-old Labrador and what most people call a “big boy” with an even bigger heart.

I’m the kind of dog who makes people smile the moment they meet me. Whether I’m leaning in for head rubs or flopping over for belly scratches, I’m all about love. In two words? I’m happy.

I came to MLRR as an owner surrender from Maryland, but I’ve settled into foster life like I’ve always belonged. I’m calm, affectionate, house-trained, and totally fine being left alone if needed. Indoors, I’m easy — low-energy, quiet, and happiest snoozing nearby while you work or following you from room to room, just to be close. My foster dad says it feels like I’ve always been here.

I’m great in the city, too — crowds and noise don’t bother me. I walk nicely on a leash, though at 100 pounds, I can be strong if something exciting catches my eye (bird? Bird!). But don’t let my size fool you — I’m light on my feet and can happily walk four miles without blinking.

I make friends wherever I go. I trust easily, love generously, and will gladly sit on your foot just to ask for a scratch. People stop me all the time to say I’m a “handsome boy.” I don’t know what that means exactly, but I like the sound of it.

When I’m excited — whether it’s time for a walk, dinner, bedtime, or just a good moment — I grab my stuffed bear and do a little parade around the house. It’s my way of saying, I’m glad to be here.

I previously lived with another dog, but lately, I seem to prefer my own space. I’m friendly in passing, but I’d likely thrive as your one-and-only, or with slow, respectful introductions to a calm canine companion.

I’m a big boy with a gentle soul, ready to find a family who wants a loyal, easygoing, deeply loving companion. I’ll be right there — leaning in, tail wagging, soft head waiting for your hand.
