Hi, I’m Maverick—but my friends call me Wags. Once you meet me, you’ll see why. I don’t just wag my tail—I wag my whole body. It's kind of my thing. I greet people like I’ve known them forever, and I’ve been told I’ve got a way of making folks feel instantly at home.
I’m the kind of dog who strikes a great balance: I’ve got enough energy to keep up on walks and playtime, but I’m also totally down to lounge around and keep you company. Whether it’s a walk through the neighborhood or just a quiet afternoon on the couch, I’m happy to be there with you. I do like to take my time on walks, especially in new places—there’s just so much to sniff and take in! And if you’ve got a tennis ball, even better. I’ll chase it with full enthusiasm, chew it with love, and maybe bring it back... depending on my mood. Let’s just say I’m more of a “fetch enthusiast in training.”
At home, I’m low-key. I’m happy to nap while you work, hang out quietly while you watch TV, or be your buddy for a midday tug-of-war break. I’m fully house-trained, don’t need a crate, and I rarely bark. I won’t beg for your food, but I will watch you cook with curious, respectful eyes—just in case something tasty “accidentally” hits the floor.
I love meeting people, especially those who are kind and dog-savvy. I’ve met some great kids—especially toddlers who understand how to give me space when I need it. I really appreciate that! I’ll happily hang out with kids who want to play with me, but I’m not super comfortable with crawling babies who don’t yet understand boundaries. My previous family had a new baby, and even though they loved me, they didn’t have as much time for me anymore. That’s how I ended up looking for a new home—one where I can be part of the action again.
I get along well with other dogs and love a good doggy friend. That said, I’m still learning how to be a perfect gentleman around some male dogs—I sometimes need a reminder to keep things cool. But I respond well to guidance and want to do the right thing.
I’m not big on water—swimming’s not really my thing—but I’m curious and open-minded. I’ve dipped my paws in a few times and didn’t hate it, so who knows? With some patience, I might just come around.
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, low-drama kind of dog who knows how to make you laugh and also chill at your side, I might be your guy. I’ve got a lot of love to give, and I can’t wait to show you my signature happy dance when we meet.
