Hi there, I’m Gus – a chocolate-covered ball of sunshine looking for my forever home.
People always say I look so happy trotting down the street, and it’s true! I was an owner surrender but have settled into foster life like a pro, so the transition to my forever home should be easy.
I’m your classic easygoing, friendly guy: sweet, curious, mellow, fun-loving, the perfect mix of playful and independent. I love being near my humans, but I’m also totally fine snoozing solo in another room (unless it’s bedtime, in which case, your bed is preferred please).
My favorite thing in the world? Fetch. Toss me a ball or a stuffed toy and I’m in heaven. I’ve got good energy when it’s time to play or go for a walk, but otherwise, I’m a chill companion. A home with a yard to chase balls would be awesome, but there’s plenty of places we can play fetch otherwise. I’m great with kids and other dogs, fully house trained, mind my manners, and no complaints being left alone. I don’t need a crate and I’m not destructive – though I might sneak a snack if you leave something tempting on the counter (hey, I’m honest!).
Right now I’m living in an apartment and sometimes bark or whine at hallway sounds – but not every time I hear one. On walks, I’m pretty good on leash, mostly just pulling to slow down if I want to stop and sniff something. I’m also super friendly with other dogs. But if I see one I can’t get to (maybe nearby at a crosswalk), I might whine or bark a little – not because I’m upset, just excited to say hello.
All in all, I’m a really good, well-adjusted boy that’s ready to settle in with a family who’ll toss me a ball, take me on sniffy strolls, and enjoy some easygoing company. So what do you think?
