Our rescue is 100% funded by donations, and we rely on your continued support to keep saving lives. We’d like to share a couple of stories to show how your donations make a difference.
Neveah's Story
Neveah was transferred to us, along with her sister Ivy, from an animal rescue in Wisconsin. While Ivy quickly found her forever home, Neveah needed to be spayed before she could be made available for adoption. But during her vet check, we received shocking news — Neveah was pregnant and due to deliver in less than two weeks! After much consideration, her incredibly busy foster family graciously stepped up to care for Neveah and her puppies until they are ready for adoption.
Your donations will help cover the costs of:
- Neveah’s ER visit, where we learned there were only 2 puppies (initial x-rays had shown 4!).
- The puppies’ initial vet visits to ensure they are healthy and ready for adoption.
- The food and supplies needed to care for momma and her growing pups.
- Neveah's spay surgery, so she never has to endure another pregnancy.
- Any unexpected medical needs that may arise over the next couple of months.
Axel's Story
Axel was found wandering the streets of Missouri by a compassionate law enforcement officer. After taking him in, the officer discovered that Axel was heartworm positive. Although the officer worked with a local rescue, they didn’t have the funds to treat him due to the overwhelming number of dogs in need. When the officer reached out to MLRR, we didn’t hesitate to step in and help.
Heartworm treatment is long, difficult, and expensive, but we never turn away a dog just because they have heartworms. The officer has generously covered Axel’s initial vetting and a portion of his heartworm treatment, for which we are incredibly grateful. Axel still needs food, heartworm prevention, and neutering after his treatment. Without your donations, we wouldn’t be able to help Axel or other dogs in need of heartworm treatment and/or spaying/neutering.
