Hi, I’m Buck… and I’d really love to be your best friend. 💛

I’m a quiet kind of guy. I don’t bark much, and I might seem a little shy when we first meet—but once I feel safe, I’ll be right by your side. Actually, I’ll probably follow you everywhere… I just like to be close to my person.

I don’t ask for much—just some gentle pets, belly rubs, and for you to keep my crate open so I can snooze in there when I want. Oh, and fetch! I love playing fetch. It’s one of my favorite things, right up there with car rides and snuggling next to you.

I’m very well-mannered. I’m potty trained, I don’t chew on anything that’s not mine, and I don’t guard my food or toys. I walk nicely on a leash too—calm strolls are my speed.

I do like meeting other dogs, especially if they’re calm and sweet. If they get a little too excited or rowdy, I usually just walk away. I’m not trying to be rude… I just like a peaceful vibe.

Loud voices make me nervous. They make me feel like I did something wrong, even if I didn’t. I try really hard to be a good boy. I just need a gentle human who understands that I’m doing my best.

I’m totally fine being left alone outside of my crate—I’m a good boy while you're away, and I’m always happy when you come back home. I’ll be there, wagging my tail, ready to pick up right where we left off.

I do want to share something important: I’ve recently been diagnosed with heartworm, and I’ve just started treatment. Don’t worry—heartworm is treatable, and the kind folks at MLRR will cover all the costs of my care. I’ll need a few months of quiet recovery time in a calm environment while I heal. Once I’m all better, I can’t wait to run, play, and enjoy all the adventures life has to offer.
