Hi, I’m Dixie!
I’m a sweet, petite Lab mix with the perfect blend of let’s go! energy and let’s snuggle vibes. I’m not even a year old yet, so yes—I’ve still got that fun puppy energy! I love to run, play, explore, and would be thrilled to try out agility, nose work, dock diving, or just go for a jog with you. I’m always up for an adventure!
But here’s the cool part: for all my zoomies and tennis ball obsession, I’ve also got a great “off switch.” Once I’ve had some fun, I’m more than happy to curl up with you for a cuddle or chew on a toy while you work. My foster family works from home, and I’m great at just hanging out quietly while they do their thing.
I started out with a family of my own, but when they had to give me up, the kind folks at the shelter knew I was too special for the shelter scene. A wonderful trainer in Mississippi took me into her home, where I got to wait for my ride to Chicagoland. That’s where I learned everything I know—like being house trained, crate trained, and how to be a good roommate! I sleep through the night, stay in my crate when my people are away, and love to learn new things.
I’ve lived with kids and done great. I’m curious about cats—so with a proper introduction and a little guidance, I think I could be their friend too. I’m respectful of the senior dogs in my foster home, and I adore meeting new people. I ride great in the car (I usually fall asleep!) and tennis balls are my absolute favorite.
I’m still working on my leash skills (I get excited and zig-zag a bit), but I’m super food motivated and love to learn. I’ve already mastered my basics and I’m excited to keep growing with a family who’s ready to help me become my very best self.
