Hi everyone, my name is Betsy! I’m a 6-year-old chocolate Lab with the gentlest heart. My favorite things in life are getting pets, sniffing around the backyard, and taking long, cozy naps.
As a retired breeder dog, I’m experiencing life outside of a kennel for the first time. Before now, I didn’t know what it meant to be part of a real family. Love, kindness, soft beds, and open spaces were all new to me. When I first arrived in foster care, I was scared and unsure of the world around me. But thanks to my foster family’s patience and support, I’ve made SO much progress!
Now, my whole body wiggles with excitement when I see my foster parents, I love following my foster brothers around, and I sleep peacefully through the night. I’ve been with my foster family for a month and feel more confident every day. However, when I move to a new home, I’ll need time to decompress and adjust at my own pace.
What I am looking for in my forever home: A peaceful, low-stress environment; A secure yard or long line (I haven’t quite figured out how to potty on a leash yet, but I’m working on it!); A patient and understanding family who will let me settle in at my own speed; No pressure—just love, routine, and encouragement.
Even though I’ve lived with other dogs my whole life, I prefer calm, neutral friends who respect my space. I would be happy to be your only dog or would love a confident mentor pup who can help me settle in. I don’t have a mean bone in my body—just a gentle spirit trying to navigate this big, new world. I’ve had a dental and finally healed from a long-term ear infection, so now, all I need is a loving home willing to give me a few weeks to feel completely safe.
