Available to Adopt!
Hi, I’m Betsy! I’m a 6-year-old chocolate Labrador with a heart full of love and a story of resilience. My life before now was very different—I was a breeding mama in an overcrowded kennel, never knowing what it felt like to be part of a real family. I didn’t understand what love was, and I was so scared when I first arrived in foster care. Everything was new, and I didn’t know if I could trust the world around me.
But slowly, I’m learning what it means to be safe. I found a soft bed in my foster’s dining room, which became my special spot. When things feel overwhelming, I still retreat there, but I’m starting to explore more. I’ve learned that treats come from kind hands (I’m still working on taking them), that the strange noises in a house—like the TV—aren’t going to hurt me, and that I don’t have to go to the bathroom on concrete anymore. Grass and mulch are pretty nice!
It’s taken time, but my heart is starting to open up. I no longer pace through the night; instead, I greet my foster with happy wiggles and big morning stretches. I’ve discovered that walks can be good, especially in quiet places where I feel safe. My favorite moments are when my humans sit with me, rubbing my ears until I drift off to sleep. If you stop petting me, I’ll nudge you for more—I never knew how much I loved a gentle touch.
Even though I’ve lived with other dogs my whole life, I prefer calm and neutral friends who respect my space. I don’t have a mean bone in my body—just a gentle spirit trying to figure out this big new world. I’ve had a dental, and am finally healing from a long-term ear infection. Now, all I need is a home that will give me weeks to build trust and a few months to settle in to feel completely safe.
My foster family has helped me come so far, and they will be there to help you too. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I promise that if you are patient, I will love you wholeheartedly. Could you be the family I’ve been waiting for?
