Willy

Willy

Willy's story is a bit long and a bit sad, but the bottom line is that he is an approximately 12 year old boy looking for a family to love him for his remaining time. He was raised on a farm in rural IL and was re-homed at age 8 when his first family was no longer able to care for him. With his new family, he lived as an outside dog most of the time; now that the family is living in a more urban area, they feel they cannot give Willy a happy life. They have tried to make him an inside dog but did not succeed in housebreaking him (Willy is not neutered, which he would be once under MLRR's care). Willy is described as a very loving and happy dog who is good with children. He is accustomed to being in a crate when inside. He did test positive for heartworms and was treated with an indirect treatment method; he has not be retested for heartworms since (should he remain heartworm positive, MLRR will treat him as appropriate).

Willie qualifies for our Foster to Adopt program. This program is for puppies, seniors, and select medical cases. Typically an approved adopter acts as a foster home for 2 weeks before deciding whether or not to keep the dog. During the 2 week period, MLRR covers all medical expenses. If at the end of the 2 weeks, the family decides not to finalize an adoption, they will foster until another adopter or foster is found.
