Meet Nickel – A Big Baby with a Big Heart!
Hi there! I’m Nickel, a sweet, playful pup with a whole lot of love to give. My story started out rough—I was found tied to a porch in Tennessee without food or water. I was skinny, covered in bug bites, and didn’t know what a good life felt like. But all of that changed when I was rescued, flown to safety, and welcomed into a loving foster home through MLRR.
Now, I’m learning what it means to be a cherished family member. I live with two small dogs and two bigger ones, and we get along great! I have my very own bed, toys to play with, and food and water every day. It’s heaven!
At 3 years old, I still have a fun, playful energy. I love tennis balls, chew bones, and Kong toys. Fetch is my favorite game, and I’ll happily carry a ball around like it’s my job. I also adore water—drinking from the hose is one of life’s little joys.
Once playtime is over, I settle down nicely for a nap or some cuddle time. I enjoy relaxing on the couch with my foster family, especially during a Netflix marathon or a few episodes of Chopped. I sleep in an XXL crate at night, but I’d also love to keep you company in your room if you'd like a gentle snuggler by your side.
I’m a very good boy, but I’m still learning a few things. I need a bit of leash training (no one ever taught me how to walk nicely), and I sometimes counter-surf—hey, I’m tall and curious! But I’m getting better every day, especially with positive reinforcement and plenty of love.
My foster parents say I’m a big baby at heart—I just want affection, belly rubs, and treats. I’m friendly with visitors, and I always go potty outside like a gentleman.
I am currently undergoing treatment for heartworm. Don’t worry—it’s not contagious, and I’m being well cared for. Once I finish treatment, I’ll be back to full health and ready for a lifetime of adventures with you!
