Hi! I’m Axel – your future best friend in the making!
I’m a big, goofy guy with a heart full of love and a whole lot of energy. Let’s just get it out there: I’m a strong guy! When I’m out for a walk, my nose is to the ground and I’m on a mission to sniff out every possible scent! I also get really excited when I see other dogs and may bark and pull – but I promise, it’s not aggression. I just need a confident human who can help redirect me and work with me on better leash manners.
At home, I’m a total sweetheart. I’m crate trained and sleep in my crate at night (and during the day while you're out), but if you’ll let me, I’d much rather snooze near my people. I’ve warmed up beautifully to my foster family, including the other dogs, and now we’re best buds! I’d love to have a doggy sibling – especially one who loves to play as much as I do.
I used to be pretty mouthy when I wanted attention (what can I say? I’m expressive!), but I’ve been working hard on that and I’ve made big improvements. Still, I might not be the best fit for a home with small kiddos.
I LOVE food – maybe a little too much, which is why I’m currently on a diet. An active family would be perfect for me so I can keep working on getting to a healthy weight. I’d be thrilled to have a fenced yard where I can run, sniff, and play fetch (yes, fetch is the best!).
I’m potty trained, know a bunch of commands like sit, down, and paw, and when it’s time to train, I’m laser-focused – especially if you’ve got treats! I even let you clean my ears without a fuss – I’m a very trusting guy. I do have some light skin allergies, but they’re totally under control right now.
All in all, I’m just looking for someone who sees the good boy I am and wants to help me keep getting better. Whether you’re a single person or a family, I’ve got so much love and loyalty to give.
